This section will be dedicated to the development of Knyaz — a strategic board game built in the style of classical grid-based games, similar in form to chess or go, yet designed for a broader, more fluid kind of play.
It’s a system for multiple players — from two up to six — where every decision affects not only the opponent, but the balance of the entire field.
The structure is simple: a board, a set of figures, and clear movement — but what happens within that space is meant to be more dynamic, adaptive, and open to interpretation.
Here, I will be sharing the process of creating the game — from the first conceptual sketches and mechanical drafts, through testing and refinements, to the thoughts and ideas that shape its direction.
It will be less about finished rules, and more about the reasoning behind them — how mechanics, structure, and symbolic ideas start to align into a coherent design.
This is only the starting point — a place to gather thoughts, outline possibilities, and trace how the system begins to grow.
There are no fixed answers yet, only movement.
Knyaz is only beginning.
